WELCOME TO LOLLIPOP CO-OP PRESCHOOL! WE ARE SO GLAD THAT YOU HAVE
FOUND US!
Spring Open House - Saturday, May 19th 11am -
12:30pm
Founded in 1972, Lollipop Cooperative Preschool has been serving Walled
Lake and the surrounding communities for over 35 years. Although Lollipop is
located upon the grounds of St. William Church, we operate independently and
are not affiliated with any religion. The preschool programs are planned and
led by a very caring and extremely dedicated board-certified teacher and
former co-op parent. Our teachers are certified for CPR, First Aid and OSHA
annually. The school is licensed by the Michigan Department of Education and
is a member of The Greater Detroit Cooperative Nursery Council ( www.gdcnc.org).
WHAT IS A CO-OP? A cooperative preschool creates
for parents a place to actively participate in their child's first school
experience. Being owned and operated by member parents, it provides benefits to
both parent and child alike. Parents work in the classroom alongside the
teacher on a rotating basis and voluntarily fill the needs of the school.
Lollipop, being a cooperative preschool, offers parents a unique opportunity
to become partners with the teacher, other parents and children. Joining a
community of parents that places high value on the involvement in the
education and development of their children and the observation of your child
in the school-social setting are invaluable benefits of a co-op
experience.
TIME TO EXPLORE/TIME TO CREATE/TIME TO IMAGINE Our
mission at Lollipop Cooperative is to provide a safe and nurturing environment
that enhances the cognitive skills and social, emotional, creative and
physical growth of our children. We recognize that young children learn
through play. Our daily curriculum balances structured activities with ample
opportunity for play based learning. Children come together for circle time,
stories and songs at the beginning and end of each class as well as share in
snack time together. During free play-based times, children have the choice
to take part in any or all of the day's planned activities or to explore,
create or imagine with the many tools provided within the school. There are
activities for both small and gross motor skills, movement, interactive
play, language skills and artistic development. Lollipop fosters a love of
learning through discovery in an environment that allows children the
opportunity to make choices, encouraging independence and creativity.
